A Collaborative Reimagining

Waxahatchee, the acclaimed project led by Katie Crutchfield, has unveiled a new cover of “Where’s Your Love Now,” a standout track from This Is Lorelei. This Is Lorelei is the creative outlet for Nate Amos, who is also known for his work in Water From Your Eyes. The cover is set to appear on Box For Buddy, Box For Star (Super Deluxe), an expansive new version of Amos’ 2024 album.

In a unique twist for the project, Crutchfield did not simply record the song in isolation; she collaborated directly with Amos for the studio version. The result is a fresh perspective on the track, blending the distinct sensibilities of both artists.

A Deep Appreciation for Songwriting

Reflecting on the collaboration, Crutchfield expressed her admiration for Amos’ work in a recent press release. “I’m honored to be included in this re-record project as the album Box for Buddy, Box for Star has meant so much to me these last few years,” she shared. “I think Nate is one of the best songwriters of this moment, making music that feels current and timeless and also somehow ahead of a curve. When I heard ‘Where’s Your Love Now’ I thought it was one of the best songs I’ve ever heard.”

Expanding the Vision

The full Box For Buddy, Box For Star (Super Deluxe) collection is scheduled for release this Friday, April 17, via Double Double Whammy. The project serves as a testament to the community surrounding Amos, featuring an impressive roster of contributors. Among the other artists lending their talents to the expansion are MJ Lenderman, Jeff Tweedy, Snail Mail, Tim Heidecker, and Sasami. Additionally, the project includes a version of “Perfect Hand” by Power Snatch, the collaborative project featuring Hayley Williams and Daniel James.

This latest release continues a productive period for Crutchfield. Just last month, she teamed up with Brennan Wedl to release a cover of “Six O’ Clock News,” the 2002 single originally by Kathleen Edwards. As fans await the full expansion, the collaboration on “Where’s Your Love Now” stands as a highlight of the project’s creative scope.
