Tory Lanez Says He’s Officially Off Interscope Records

Tory Lanez has announced he’s moving on from Interscope Records. The Canadian rapper tweeted the news on Monday afternoon (February 24) while plugging his next project New Toronto 3.

“ITS OFFICIAL, NEW TORONTO 3 COMES OUT MARCH !!!!” he wrote in all caps. “AND AS SOON AS YOU HEAR IT … I HAVE OFFICIALLY FINISHED MY DEAL WITH INTERSCOPE … ITS BEEN REAL.”

Tory went on to insist he fulfilled his obligations with the imprint.

“And it’s no bad blood with the label @Interscope … I HAD A 5 ALBUM DEAL ….I GAVE THEM 12 PROJECTS /ALBUMS if u include all the mixtapes with original music,” he wrote. “I can OFFICIALLY go on record and say I exceeded that 5 ALBUM MARK … AND IM STILL JUST GETTING MY FEET IN THE WATER.”

The 27-year-old artist signed to the label in 2015 in conjunction with Benny Blanco’s Mad Love Records. His inaugural album, I Told You, arrived in 2016 and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, selling roughly 52,000 album equivalent units in its first week.

He dropped three more full length albums under the Interscope umbrella: 2018’s Memories Don’t Die, 2018’s Love Me Now? and 2019’s Chixtape 5. He also released multiple mixtapes since signing with the label along with a 2019 EP called International Fargo.

The New Toronto 2 mixtape arrived in 2017 Mad Love. A specific release date for the next installment has yet to be announced.
