That’s what happens on “Tory Lanez Should’ve Shot His Barbershop Up,” a spit-take-inducing stream of consciousness that pokes fun at the likes of Drake and SpaceGhostPurrp and delivers a heartfelt tribute to Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo over producer RX Brainstorm’s minimal, thumping beat. There are more quotables here than I have space to list (“You a Jamaican beef patty in the face,” for starters), but the most noteworthy are roasts of Tory Lanez, who was recently sentenced to 10 years behind bars for shooting Megan Thee Stallion: “He got a BBL edge-up,” Neph says. “How the fuck you got a bald spot on your head and still tryna get waves?” The song is in the same league as his other gonzo, not-entirely-PC marathon raps like 2020’s breakout “American tterroristt” or this year’s “Yeezy Boots,” the only difference being his voice is a little calmer and more collected.
