‘Real life’ Martha from ‘Baby Reindeer’ was targeting this comedian on Twitter too

A second comedian has claimed to have been targeted online by the ‘real Martha’ from Netflix’s Baby Reindeer.

Fiona Harvey is thought to have been the real-life basis for the stalker character in the Netflix drama, and she was interviewed on Piers Morgan Uncensored last week about the allegations raised in the show.

Baby Reindeer is a semi-autobiographical series written by the comedian Richard Gadd that claims to tell the “true story” of a struggling stand-up (played by Gadd) who is maliciously stalked by an older woman named Martha.

In the interview, Harvey denied many aspects of the Netflix show’s narrative, saying that she did not stalk Gadd, attack his girlfriend, destroy the bar he worked in or contact his parents.

Morgan pressed Harvey on a number of the show’s assertions, including that she sent Gadd over 41,000 emails, over 100 handwritten letters and 350 hours of voicemail messages.

In response, Harvey claimed that she sent him “less than 10” emails and a handful of tweets, adding: “That’s simply not true. If somebody was sending somebody 41,000 emails or something, they’d be doing how many a day? Lots.”

Instead, Harvey described Baby Reindeer as “a work of fiction, a work of hyperbole”, and is now threatening legal action against both Netflix and Gadd.

Now, a second comedian, Janey Godley, appears to have uncovered a series of tweets that she received from Harvey between 2016 and 2018.

Godley posted a 47-second clip to her X account on Friday (May 10), which seems to show a slew of posts from an account with Harvey’s name, which has been unused since 2018.

Many of the posts in Godley’s clip reference the Labour Party – Godley is a high-profile supporter of the Scottish National Party – and Donald Trump, who Godley has publicly criticised, even sporting a “Trump Is A Cunt” slogan at his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland.

One of the tweets included in the video grab reads: “i wouldn’t believe a worfd that cvame out of Richard gadd or janey godleys mouth pals with bitter expertiencves of both both nuts.”

Harvey has since said that she felt “set up” by Morgan in the interview, and is demanding a larger fee for her appearance. Morgan, meanwhile, has said that he believes she lied “quite a lot” during the interview.
