Lollapalooza 2023 day 1 pics & video (Billie Eilish, Karol G, Carly Rae Jepsen, more)

The 2023 edition of Lollapalooza kicked off on Thursday (8/3) at Chicago’s Grant Park. Headliner Billie Eilish gave her Barbie soundtrack song “What Was I Made For?” its live debut, and paid tribute to late Euphoria actor Angus Cloud, dedicating a rendition of Labrinth’s “Never Felt So Alone” from the show’s second season to the actor. Watch video of both songs below.

Thursday’s other headliner, Karol G, made history as the first Latin female artist to headline the festival with her nearly two hour set, which served as the beginning of her “MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO” tour. She brought out the Uniting Voices Chicago choir to join her on “Mientras Me Curo del Cora.”

Thursday at Lollapalooza also featured sets from Carly Rae Jepsen, Men I Trust, Sofi Tukker, Joy Oladokun, Rema, Dom Dolla, Lainey Wilson, and more. See pictures by James Richards IV below.

Lollapalooza continues through Sunday, and if you won’t be there in person you can stream many sets on Hulu.
