Killer Mike detained by police after three Grammy wins

It’s been a rollercoaster Sunday for Killer Mike. After winning three Grammys during the day at the Premiere Ceremony, he was detained by the LAPD, according to The Hollywood Reporter‘s Chris Gardner, who reports the charges had nothing to do with today’s awards.

UPDATE: TMZ reported later that Mike was arrested on misdemeanor battery charges “after a private person’s arrest took place at Crypto.com Arena,” continuing, “We’re told KM is accused of knocking down a security officer after they did not get out of his way quick enough.” The LAPD confirmed the charges:

Mike was released later that night he called into The Big Tigger Morning Show on Atlanta’s V-103, saying it was really “nothing,” adding, “We hit a speed bump, and then we headed back to the party.”

Killer Mike won Best Rap Album for MICHAEL, and Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “Scientists & Engineers,” with André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane. On winning Rap Album, he said “You can’t tell me you get too old, you can’t tell me it’s too late… dreams come true! It’s a sweep!”
