San Francisco 49ers Tight End George Kittle is seeking a massive contract following his rookie deal. His agent explained to NFL Network that he wants more than to be the highest-paid at his position.

“I don’t care about the tight end market,” Kittle’s agent, Jack Bechta, said. “I’m being paid to do a George Kittle deal.”

Kittle’s current contract will see him earn just $735,000 in 2020.

49ers General Manager John Lynch says the team plans to keep Kittle for the long term. Last month, Lynch explained the situation to KGMZ-FM 95.7 “George isn’t going anywhere. We’re going to work hard to try to get it done,” Lynch said. “I think they’ve got motivation just to reset the tight end market, as do we for him. It’s just finding that sweet spot, where that is. … When that happens, I don’t know. But we’re working hard, as are they, to try to make that happen. George is going to be a part of the 49ers for a long, long time.”

The 10 highest-paid non-quarterback skill position players earn an average of $16 million per year. Kittle was a First-team All-Pro selection in 2019 and has been selected to the Pro Bowl twice in his career.
