Gary Neville hits back at Noel Gallagher after City-United taunt: “He lives in London!”

Gary Neville has responded to Noel Gallagher’s taunts after Manchester City’s Premier League victory, saying, “He lives in London! You can’t start talking about Manchester.”

Last weekend (May 19), City won a record fourth consecutive league title and during the celebrations, City fan Gallagher took the chance to send a jibe to former Manchester United captain Neville.

“Gary Neville, at this moment in time,” he said, in an exaggerated Mancunian accent, “I wonder how he’s feeling.”

Neville shot back at the former Oasis man, telling BBC Manchester, “He’s been a big part of Manchester’s history, but he lives in London. Do you know what I mean, don’t talk about Manchester, you live in London.”

“You live in Knightsbridge, or wherever it is, Hampstead. You can’t start talking about Manchester. 25 years he’s not been here! He comes once a year for that trophy parade, I saw him on Sunday actually. Honestly. I’m good Noel, thanks!”

Neville’s comments came ahead of yesterday’s FA Cup Final between the two local rivals. United came out as surprise 2-1 winners, with goals from teenagers Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, denying City the chance to pick up back-to-back league and cup doubles.

Neville and Gallagher have been locked in a light-hearted war of words for years. In 2013, the Sky Sports pundit revealed that he once sent Noel a guitar for him to sign, but the musician emblazed a Manchester City logo on it instead.

In other Gallagher news, this week Oasis announced a 30th anniversary reissue of 1994 debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’, featuring previously unheard recordings and outtakes.

The special edition is due for release on August 30 via Big Brother Recordings. It will be available as a limited-edition 4LP record, a deluxe 2CD, exclusive coloured vinyl and other formats – pre-order here.

Also recently announced was the “largest ever” Oasis exhibition, which is heading to the iconic Salford Lads’ Club. It will reportedly feature rare and exclusive memorabilia from the band, along with a selection of Noel Gallagher‘s six-figure guitar collection.
