Eminem’s Chaotic ‘Infinite 2′ April Fools’ Day Trailer Teases New Album That Might Exist, But Isn’t Out

Check the Date

Fans rushed to streaming services following the announcement of the record’s surprise release only to be disappointed when nothing was actually there

Eminem‘s next album might already exist, but it definitely didn’t arrive today. Monday morning, the rapper surprised everyone by announcing a record titled Infinite 2 with an elaborate teaser trailer. Fans sprinted to streaming services after he posted the 40-second video — which could benefit from having a warning for those with photosensitive epilepsy — only to be disappointed when nothing was actually there. They should’ve rushed to their calendar first.

“The highly-anticipated next studio album goes back to where it all started,” a narrator announces in the clip, referring back to Eminem’s 1996 debut studio album. “Infinite but now it’s even more infinite. Out today!” The trailer, interestingly, features “Crack a Bottle,” which actually appeared on the rapper’s comeback album Relapse in 2009.

The teaser captures the pure visual chaos of the early internet, but keeps it modern with screenshots of dozens of Instagram comments. “I can’t wait for the PSA when you finally decide to announce a new album,” one reads, while another says: “Almost had a heart attack. Thought this was a new album announcement.”

Eminem last released an album in January 2020. Music To Be Murdered By spanned 20 songs and featured collaborations with Anderson .Paak, Don Toliver, Juice WRLD, Ed Sheeran and more. The only real news about any forthcoming releases from the rapper came by way of Dr. Dre, who recently told Jimmy Kimmel: “Eminem is working on his own album, which is coming out this year. I actually talked to him and he said it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show. So he has an album coming out, I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire.”

No release date has been set for the project, but it definitely isn’t April Fools’ Day.
