Last night, a video was circulating online showing rapper being placed in handcuffs by the police. The reason for his detainment has been confirmed as a report claims he received a citation for marijuana possession and disorderly conduct. 

According to NBC New York, the rapper, whose real name is David Brewster, was in the backseat of a vehicle that was pulled over after the driver reportedly failed to signal a turn. The driver was reportedly compliant with the police and did not receive a ticket but Dave East is said to have been combative. The officers found half a dozen bags of marijuana in the car, bringing East and another passenger to the precinct where they were both issued two summons.

In the video, which was posted to Dave East’s page, several witnesses can be heard screaming that the officers were harassing the rapper. Following his release from custody, East clapped back with his own message.

“REST IN PARADISE SHOOTER SHIT DONT STOP FUCC NYPD TILL I SEE U AGAIN,” he wrote.
