Artists pay tribute to DMX (Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, Nas, Killer Mike, Eve, Chance the Rapper, more)

Following the tragic news that DMX passed away at age 50 this morning, tributes to him have been pouring in from all across the music community, from fellow legends to the countless artists he inspired – not just within hip hop but across several genres of music. Tributes have come in from Ms. Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, Ludacris, Questlove, Nas, Talib Kweli, Killer Mike, Chance the Rapper, Noname, Eve, Q-Tip, Fat Joe, Method Man, Havoc of Mobb Deep, Swizz Beatz, Lil Durk, Mystikal, Masta Ace, Open Mike Eagle, Bootsy Collins, Juicy J, slowthai, Burna Boy, Kaytranada, Ella Mai, Ghospoet, Xzibit, Ice-T, EarthGang, Nothing, Speedy Ortiz’s Sadie Dupuis, Fucked Up’s Damian Abraham, and countless others.

Fellow Ruff Ryders rapper Drag-On spoke to Rolling Stone about DMX, saying in part, “We really looked at each other like brothers. […] There’s two words to describe DMX: Energy and passion. Even if you found other words that go with that, you cannot leave out those two. Those are mandatory. That’s DMX. That’s why the world loved him, and that’s why we loved him.
