25 New Metal & Hardcore Songs Out This Week

This week in heavy music, we got great new albums from Drain, Jeromes Dream, Death Goals, and Spinebreaker that you can read about in Notable Releases. You can also read about others at Invisible Oranges like Danava, Burning Witches, Enforcer, Blood Ceremony, Savage Grace, Nightmarerer, Undead, Haunt, and more. We also posted a roundup of new screamo. On top of all that, we’ve got a bunch of tracks to check out below from Krallice, Boris & Uniform, Will Haven, Hazing Over, Burner, Envision, Spy, Spirit Adrift, Illusion, Never Ending Game, and more…

KRALLICE – POROUS RESONANCE ABYSS

Krallice have made it a habit to surprise-release albums, and today comes one presented as one piece of music broken up into four parts, and it finds the band mixing synthwave with black metal instrumentals.

BORIS AND UNIFORM – “YOU ARE THE BEGINNING”

“At that time, we didn’t know when we would be able to resume concerts, and our wish became the song directly,” Boris drummer Atsuo says of “You Are The Beginning,” the lead single off Boris and Uniform’s just-announced collaborative LP Bright New Disease. The song is audacious and confrontational, loaded with screaming vocals and sludgy noise that morph into shreddy guitar riffs and high-octane drums.

WILL HAVEN – “5 OF FIRE”

Reunited Sacramento alt-metal vets Will Haven have confirmed a new album is coming this year, and first single “5 of Fire” finds the band in fine form, sounding as intense as ever.

HAZING OVER – “TUNNEL VISION”

Hazing Over have announced a new EP, Tunnel Vision, and you can read about the title track here.

BURNER – “PILLAR OF SHAME”

UK hardcore/metal band Burner have shared another track off their upcoming debut LP for Church Road, It All Returns To Nothing, and this one finds them going in a more black metal direction at times, which pairs very well with their usual death metal/hardcore stuff.

ENVISION – THE GODS THAT BUILT TOMORROW

With members split between Philly and South Florida, Envision (members of Ecostrike, Seed of Pain, Moment of Truth, Scarab, Off The Tracks, etc) make straightedge metallic hardcore that takes its “metallic” cues from classic, heroic heavy metal. This thing’s got devil horn-wielding riffs, but it’s definitely a hardcore record through and through. Out now on From Within Records.

SPY – “KONIEC”

Bay Area hardcore band Spy have shared another caustic, high-speed ripper from their upcoming debut full-length Satisfaction, which arrives in June via Triple B (and which we’ve got an exclusive multi-color vinyl variant of).

THE SUN’S JOURNEY THROUGH THE NIGHT – “VOID WALKER”

UK black metallers The Sun’s Journey Through The Night have announced a new LP, Worldless, due July 28 via Church Road. The first taste is the intense, seven-minute “Void Walker.”

LIVE IT DOWN – THY KINGDOM COME EP

Cleveland hardcore band Live It Down have dropped their debut EP Thy Kingdom Come on Triple B and Rebirth Records, and the description calls it “4 tracks of perfect Clevo Hardcore in the vein of Integrity, In Cold Blood, & more.” That should give you an idea of what to expect, and this is very worth hearing.

SPIRIT ADRIFT – “I SHALL RETURN”

Retro-metallers Sprit Adrift have shared a galloping new taste of Ghost At The Gallows.

XNOMADX – DEMO

A few people I trust have been hyped on the xNOMADx demo, so I gave it a listen and was not disappointed at all. Straightedge metalcore/post-hardcore that sounds straight out of the late ’90s / early 2000s in the best way possible.

EPHEMERAL – “TOWER HAS FALLEN”

South Florida metallic hardcore band Ephemeral cite bands like 100 Demons, Morbid Angel, Bolt Thrower, and Confusion as influences, and you can hear that coming through in the pure brutality of new single “Tower Has Fallen.” The band’s Tower of Silence EP drops May 19 via DAZE.

POWER OF FEAR – “WALK THE WALK”

Pittsburgh metallic hardcore band Power of Fear that influence from bands like Hatebreed and Cold As Life, and you can hear that coming through in their brutally heavy new single “Walk the Walk,” which features guest vocals from Austin Sparkman of Boston hardcore band Buried Dreams. Their debut LP A Breed Apart drops June 30 via DAZE.

ILLUSION – “UNREACHABLE STARS”

New York hardcore band Illusion have dropped their first new track in five years, and it starts out as a fast-paced rager before slowing it down into something much more chunky and groove-based.

INCISION – “REVERIE” (ft. ELIJAH OF A MOURNING STAR)

Incision teams up with Elijah from A Mourning Star for a very killer update on Y2K-era metalcore.

NEVER ENDING GAME – “HATE TODAY… DIE TOMORROW”

Detroit hardcore band Never Ending Game have shared another super heavy taste of Outcry, which arrives next week (5/12) via Triple B. Get the album on limited splatter vinyl.

INHUMAN NATURE – “TAKE THEM BY FORCE”

UK hardcore-informed thrashers Inhuman nature follow last year’s Under The Boot EP with four more minutes of madness.

HARD FEELINGS (CT) – “LIVING HELL”

Connecticut’s Hard Feelings (not to be confused with the duo of Amy Douglas and Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard) make hardcore that hearkens back to the genre’s frenetic early ’80s era, but incorporates some heavier, chuggier, ’90s-style stuff too, as you can hear on new single “Living Hell.”

SNAG – “INVASIVE SPECIES (COP CITY)”

Milwaukee screamo band Snag have an intense new track and you can read about it here.

GRAF ORLOCK – “MEGA CITY BLUES”

20 years after forming, Anaheim’s grindy, movie-themed hardcore weirdos Graf Orlock have now announced what they’re saying is their final release, End Credits. Read more about this lead single here.

WAYDOWN – SOMETHING TO MOVE ON EP

Waydown hail from the thriving Ohio hardcore scene, and they’ve just dropped this three-pack on Delayed Gratification Records.

FINAL – OBLIVION 0

Godflesh/Jesu’s Justin Broadrick released three new noise tracks under his Final moniker.

FILTER – “FACE DOWN”

Industrial vets Filter have shared new single “Face Down,” which band leader Richard Patrick says “speaks to the hate and negativity plaguing the world today. I wrote it after being inundated with lies, deceptions, and pure vitriol I saw on social media. I’m pumped. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the full album.”

JEWELTONE – DEMO 2023

Buffalo hardcore band Jeweltone tell No Echo that the members’ separate roots range from emo/pop punk to hip hop, but Jeweltone make heavy, riffy, metallic hardcore, and they’re damn good at it.

DRILL SERGEANT – GRIM NEW WAR EP

Playing a little catchup here but Philly hardcore band Drill Sergeant released the Grim New War EP back in February, marking their first new music since their 2021 debut LP Vile Ebb. True to their name, these guys bark their heads off.
