18 New Rap & R&B Songs Out This Week

This week in hip hop, we got the posthumous King Von album, as well as new albums from Your Old Droog, Kojey Radical, The Cool Kids, RZA & DJ Scratch, and more. We also got new singles from The Alchemist, Joey Bada$$, Dave, Tinashe, Pusha T, Popcaan, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Bktherula, Joey Fatts, and more. THE ALCHEMIST – "DIESEL" (ft. KOOL G RAP)

The extremely prolific and consistently great producer The Alchemist has just dropped a new single featuring legendary NYC rapper Kool G Rap, and it should come as no surprise that these two sound great together.

JOEY BADA$$ – "HEAD HIGH"

"This is one of the best, purest, realest tracks I’ve ever made and I’m fulfilled to finally share it with the world,” Joey Bada$$ said of his new single "Head High," which was produced by Statik Selektah. “This one is for Nip, X, Pop and every young black man who’s life was taken away way too soon. This is for everyone who has to navigate life daily with their head on a swivel.”

DEFCEE & BOATHOUSE – "RAGNAROK" (ft. KIPP STONE)

Underground Chicago rapper Defcee has announced a followup to last year's Messiah Musk-produced Trapdoor. It's called For All Debts Public and Private, due April 19 via Closed Sessions, and this one was entirely produced by fellow Chicagoan BoatHouse. It's got appearances from Armand Hammer, SolarFive, greenSLLLIME, Mother Nature, and Kipp Stone, the latter of whom appears on the the great lead single "Ragnarok."

YOUR OLD DROOG – "PURPLE RAIN FREESTYLE"

The insanely prolific Your Old Droog is already gearing up for his second project of 2022, YOD Wave, due this Friday (3/4). The first single is this Prince-inspired freestyle.

MARCY CHIN – "GIMME MORE"

Jamaican rapper/singer Marcy Chin blurs the lines between hip hop and dancehall on this catchy new single.

DAVE – "STARLIGHT"

After releasing one of 2021's best albums with We’re All Alone in This Together, UK rapper Dave has put out a melancholic new single, "Starlight."

PENDANT – "STATIC DREAM"

Here's another track off Pendant's upcoming Saddle Creek debut Harp, and like previous single "Thorn," it's a very '90s-style fusion of electronics, hip hop, and noisy rock.

TINASHE – "HMU FOR A GOOD TIME" FT. CHANNEL TRES

Tinashe just released the deluxe edition of last year's great 333, including an awesome collaboration with Channel Tres that finds the two artists churning out house-inflected R&B.

CADENCE WEAPON – "ON ME" (LORAINE JAMES REMIX)

“Loraine James is one of my favorite artists,” says Cadence Weapon's Rollie Pemberton of this new remix, “so I was overjoyed when she said she was down to do a remix for me. She's one of the most innovative electronic musicians in the UK. Loraine’s interpretation of ‘On Me’ brings out the warped paranoia of targeted surveillance in a more trippy way than on the original.”

KING VON – "WAR"

King Von's posthumous album What It Means To Be King comes out this Friday, and here's a new single that reminds you Von was both hard-hitting and incisive.

PUSHA T & NIGO – "HEAR ME CLEARLY" (PROD: KANYE WEST)

Nigo has shared his Pusha T collab "Hear Me Clearly" from his upcoming album I Know Nigo that also features A$AP Rocky, Kid Cudi and more. The track was produced by Kanye West with ThaMyind, Luca Starz, and BoogzDaBeast

THEY HATE CHANGE – "FROM THE FLOOR" (ft. DJ GAY-Z)

Tampa experimental rap/production duo They Hate Change will release their new album Finally, New on May 13 via Jagjaguwar, and you can read more about new single "From the Floor" here.

PAUL WALL & TERMANOLOGY – "RECOGNIZE MY CAR"

Houston rapper Paul Wall is back with an old-school ode to driving slow and being seen. The great Pete Rock produced. Their collaborative album, Start 2 Finish, is out April 8

POPCAAN – "SKELETON CARTIER"

Jamaican dancehall great Popcaan dropped the first single from his new album Great Is He, which will also feature in Drake's Nike x NOCTA shoe release campaign. "This song is about how I was feeling after I ordered myself a Skeleton Cartier watch for my birthday," he says. "This was possible because I put in the work. The aim is always to be richer — in more ways than one!"

A BOOGIE WIT DA HOODIE – "HIT DIFFERENT (FT. B-LOVEE)"

A Boogie again teams with B-Lovee for this new track that features a video inspired by Guy Ritchie film Snatch.

BKTHERULA – "KEEP DA K" & "COUPE"

Rising Atlanta rapper Bktherula dropped a pair of new tracks, "Keep Da K" and "Coupe." "These songs are memories of being young and careless,” she told REVOLT. "I wanted the visuals to be really raw and vulnerable and reminiscent of being a kid.”

JOEY FATTS – "BRIGHT LIGHTS" (ft. ALLYN)

Long Beach rapper Joey Fatts has announced a new album, QUICCSAND, due March 18. It has songs featuring Blxst and Allyn, the latter of whom sings the soaring hook on new single "Bright Lights."

SOUL GLO – "DRIPONOMICS" FT. MOTHER MARYROSE

Genre-defying Philly hardcore band Soul Glo's new single "Driponomics" is a straight-up rap song, which you can read more about here. It's from their anticipated new album Diaspora Problems (pre-order on limited edition blue and red splatter vinyl).
