New York R&B/soul singer Yaya Bey has shared a new double-single, “the evidence” / “crying through my teeth,” the latter of which she premiered during a COLORS session over the summer. Along with the songs comes confirmation that a new project is coming next year. “crying through my teeth” leans on Yaya’s laid-back soul side, while “the evidence” is a little groover, and both are great. “the evidence” also comes with a music video that Yaya co-directed with Chassidy David, with choreography by Yaya and Alexandria Johnson.

“I wrote ‘the evidence’ last winter when I was experiencing grief in the most challenging way I ever had before and I needed to encourage myself,” Yaya says. Check out the video and stream “crying through my teeth” below.

Yaya plays a hometown show on November 14 at SOB’s.
