Kamasi Washington has released a short film for “Get Lit,” a new song taken from his upcoming album Fearless Movement, out May 3 via Young. Directed by Jenn Nkiru, the visual clocks in just over 13 minutes and stars George Clinton and D Smoke—both of whom are featured guests on the track itself—as well as Saul Williams, Willow, Robert Glasper, Raphael Saadiq, and Patrice Quinn. Watch it below.
“Get Lit” is the fourth song Washington has shared from Fearless Movement, following singles “Dream State” with André 3000, “Prologue,” and “The Garden Path.” He performed the latter live during his late-night television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Fearless Movement also has contributions from Thundercat, Terrace Martin, BJ the Chicago Kid, and others.
It’s been six years since Washington’s last album: 2018’s Heaven and Earth. In the years following, he’s put out the companion EP The Choice and his soundtrack for the Michelle Obama documentary Becoming. Washington also released several projects with Robert Glasper and Terrace Martin under their joint Dinner Party moniker.
