SUGAR CANDY MOUNTAIN / PSYCHEDELIC PORN CRUMPETS
California psych duo Sugar Candy Mountain are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their album Mystic Hits with a Southwest / West Coast tour this spring with Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, hitting Austin, Denver, Boise, Vancouver, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles and more.
DON WAS & THE PAN-DETROIT ENSEMBLE
Grammy-winning producer, Blue Note Records president and Was (Not Was) co-founder, Don Was, has announced his new group The Pan-Detroit Ensemble, that includes saxophonist Dave McMurray, keyboardist Luis Resto, trombonist Vincent Chandler, trumpeter John Douglas, drummer Jeff Canady, percussionist Mahindi Masai, guitarist Wayne Gerard, and vocalist Steffanie Christi’an. “When the opportunity came to put together a new band, the message was clear to me: go back to Detroit where I came from, be who I am, play like who I am and team up with some like-minded individuals,” says Was. “There’s a unique sound and feel to Detroit that permeates the music in a way that resonates all over the globe. There is a rawness, a lack of pretension and an unmistakable, underlying groove that reflects the people and culture of the entire city.” The band will head out on their first tour this spring, starting May 21 in Minneapolis and including a NYC stop at City Winery on May 31. THE PRETENDERS
The Pretenders will support Foo Fighters on select dates of their upcoming stadium tour, and they’ve announced headlining shows around those dates. (They did a similar thing last year while on tour with Guns N’ Roses.) They’ll stop in Philadelphia, Boston, Washington DC, Chicago, Kansas City, Austin, San Francisco, and more in July and August.
A DAY TO REMEMBER
A Day To Remember have announced a headlining arena and amphitheater tour, dubbed ‘The Least Anticipated Album Tour,’ and they’re taking out some very cool bands from the current hardcore scene on select dates: Scowl, Militarie Gun, and Pain of Truth. They’ve also got direct support from long-running pop punk giants The Story So Far and Four Year Strong on all dates.
LOLLAPALOOZA 2024
Lollapalooza announced its 2024 lineup that includes SZA, Tyler, blink-182, Deftones, Killers, Vince Staples, Skrillex, Four Tet, Future x Metro Boomin, Victoria Monét, Kesha, Chappell Roan, Cults, Destroy Boys, Militarie Gun, Fleshwater, and more.
BRYSON TILLER
Hip hop and R&B artist Bryson Tiller will promote his upcoming self-titled album on tour this spring. Dates include NYC’s Theater at MSG on June 3.
HOT 97 SUMMER JAM 2024
Hot 97’s Summer Jam returns for its 30th year this summer, with Doja Cat, Davido, and Offset, and the lineup also features Sexyy Red, Method Man and Redman, and more.
THE ANTLERS / OKKERVIL RIVER (“SOLO-ISH”)
Peter Silberman of The Antlers and Will Sheff of Okkervil River will hit the road together this May and June for a “solo-ish” tour. Silberman writes, “We’ll each be playing intimate solo-ish sets, joined by a couple musical friends as we traverse songs from across our sprawling catalogs and try out some new works-in-progress. We’ll each play a set of our own, followed by a combined / collaborative set to close out the evenings.”
FATBOY SLIM
Norman Cook’s mega-selling big beat DJ alter ego, Fatboy Slim, will be in the US this May for festival sets at Lighting in a Bottle and Movement, and is playing NYC in between.
HATEBREED
After playing a show in their home state of Connecticut celebrating their 30th anniversary on Sunday (3/17), Hatebreed have announced a full 30th anniversary tour. They’ll travel to Europe with Crowbar in June, followed by North American dates in the fall with the stacked lineup of Carcass, Harm’s Way, and Crypta as support.
HIGH ON FIRE
High on Fire have announced a tour in support of their upcoming album Cometh the Storm, where they’ll be joined by Zeta and High Command. Dates kick off May 4 in Orlando and include stops in Richmond, Baltimore, New Haven, Jersey City, Cambridge, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago and more.
SEAROWS
Rising singer-songwriter Searows has announced a North American tour happening in June with runo plum. Dates begin June 12 in Vancouver and wrap up June 28 in Washington, DC with the Brooklyn stop happening on June 25 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Searows has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 per ticket sold goes to supporting organizations providing humanitarian aid for people in Gaza.
JON BATISTE
Jon Batiste is currently on his UNEASY Tour that includes stops at Big Ears this week and New Orleans Jazz Fest in April. He’s just announced a new NYC stop, happening September 7 at Radio City Music Hall.
MOUNTAIN GOATS / NEW PORNOGRAPHERS
New Pornographers and The Mountain Goats will both be playing Merge Records’ 35th Anniversary fest in July and not too long after have a one-off show together in the DC-area on August 4 at Wolf Trap, which is with Margaret Glaspy.
