Tiffany Haddish Hit With Defamation Lawsuit From Ex-Husband Over Abuse Claims

While Tiffany Haddish may have accidentally caused some hysteria when she told the story an actress bitingBeyonce on the face, now she’s getting in trouble for telling a whole other type story.

According to TMZ, Haddish is facing a massive lawsuit from her ex-husband, William Stewart, over claims that she made in her recent book, THe Last Black Unicorn. In a chapter titled, “The Ex-Husband,” Haddish claims that Stewart choked, kidnapped, and stalked her over the course their five year marriage. Haddish even insinuates that his abuse was the reason that she lost their unborn child. While Haddish never refers to Stewart by name in the chapter, he claims that it would be impossible not to know it was him, as he was the only person Haddish has ever been married to.

Stewart claims that the child was lost, not through abuse, but because Haddish went to a doctor to have an abortion instead. He also states that he and Haddish were married from 2008 to 2013, but did not divorce and remarry twice, as the book suggests. Stewart is suing Haddish, co author Tucker Max, and publisher Simon and Schuster as defendents, and is asking for $1 million in damages.

Stewarts attorney had this to say, “For the defendants’ own prit, they painted my clients as abusers in a best-selling book. After a thorough review the facts and evidence, we know that the assertions made by the defendants about my clients in “The Last Black Unicorn” are patently untrue.”

He continues, “Powerful people and influential corporations can’t intentionally and recklessly destroy someone’s reputation with malicious lies for their own prit. After exhausting our ability to solve this matter privately, we have been left with no choice, but to seek legal recourse. We look forward to our day in court.”
