Stereophonics Preview New LP With ‘There’s Always Gonna Be Something’

Stereophonics will release a new album, Make ‘em Laugh, Make ‘em Cry, Make ‘em Wait, on April 25 via EMI. The effort marks the British group’s 13th LP and follow-up to 2022’s Oochya!.

The band shared the first single from the album, “There’s Always Gonna Be Something,” a mid-tempo rock number that reflects on the human condition. Frontman Kelly Jones said in a statement that the song describes “the restlessness in uncertainty, struggling to arrive at acceptance. A part within all of us.”

Jones added that the album cover art was inspired by a Louise Bourgeois painting he saw in New York. “She believed art was a form of mental healing and a way to process difficult emotions,” he said. “The spelling caught me first, then the simplicity of the words etched onto a pink tile. So I tried scratching my title, inspired by my own art school teacher thirty years ago. And I loved it. I loved the simplicity of the pink. The pink album was born.”

Stereophonics will embark on their first tour in three years this spring, as previously announced. The North American leg kicks off March 21 at Théâtre Beanfield in Montreal and includes performances in New York, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, and more. The band will also perform across the U.K. and Ireland and will headline the Isle of Wight Festival on June 21.

“Being on the road again with my best friends, playing all the hits of this band’s catalog, for people in 2025 makes me so excited, we should make a new album…oh wait…we already did that!” Jones said in a statement when the tour was announced last year. “See ya there for more good times.”
