‘SNL’ Weekend Update Tackles Trump Rally, Biden, Marjorie Taylor Greene Conspiracy
‘Very Brave’
Greene’s claim that “they can control the weather” prompted Michael Che to joke that the recent Jewish holiday has, in fact, been nice.
Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update began by addressing how Donald Trump held a rally earlier in the day in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he had been the target of a failed assassination attempt in July.
“I have to admit, it was very brave of him,” co-anchor Colin Jost said, “but it was interesting that right before Trump spoke, he sent JD Vance out in a long, red tie and a blond wig.”
Trump was joined at the rally by Elon Musk, with Jost adding that it might be the pair’s final appearance together “until they co-host our Christmas show.” (Trump hosted SNL in 2004 and November 2015, while Musk did so in 2021.)
Later, co-anchor Michael Che turned to far-right lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene‘s vague post in the wake of Hurricane Helene that read, “Yes they can control the weather.”
“And I don’t know who ‘they’ is, but it has been a suspiciously nice Rosh Hashanah weekend,” Che joked, referencing Judaism’s new year.
And as for Joe Biden‘s first appearance as president in the White House press briefing room–which shocked some in the room–Jost commented: “It’s not a great sign when you’re at the White House and people are like, ‘Woah, what’s the president doing here?’”
