‘SNL’: Adam Sandler Makes Surprise Appearance Alongside Chris Rock
Adam Sandler appeared in a Saturday Night Live sketch alongside fellow SNL alum Chris Rock, with Sandler playing a patient and Rock a surgeon.
The surgery to remove an appendix gets complicated by nurse Linzley (Sarah Sherman), who first fills out a form incorrectly, meaning the patient’s gallbladder is removed instead. Also, an AirPod belonging to Linzley ended up inside him. Linzley takes responsibility for the mistake, though.
“Oh my God!” she says, realizing her error. “Okay. I’m just gonna own it. It was me.”
Rock doesn’t react harshly, mainly because of the urgency of the situation. And also, he says, “When she cries, she sounds like a Victorian ghost.”
The patient comes to, and Rock removes his blanket to reveal Sandler.
Rock and his colleagues are surprised, but they shouldn’t be, Sandler says.
“Of course I’m awake, because I wasn’t given enough anesthesia,” he mumbles.
Linzley says that this mistake, believe it or not, is one that she didn’t have a role in. Sandler, peeved, isn’t buying it.
“We all know it was you, Linzley!” he says, prompting her to cop to it anyways.
“And I heard the ways you guys were talking to her, and it’s not okay,” he continues, as a giant spurt of blood hits the wall behind him.
“Is Linzley annoying? Yes. If she was a guy, would I punch her in the face? Yes. If I were a woman, would I punch her in the face? Without a doubt,” he says.
“But every workplace needs a Linzley–one annoying coworker to rag on. If it weren’t her, it would be you, nurse Michelle. Or you, unnamed male nurse,” he continues, spraying each (Ego Nowdim and Bowen Yang) with his ruptured artery. “Or you, not sure what your role in this skit is,” he tells Emil Wakim. “But so happy you’re getting air time. Good luck. Hope your parents are proud of you.”
“If something was to go wrong, I have a stack of money buried at this address,” Sandler tells them all. But before he can get the address out, he dies.
The culprit? Linzley, who pulled the cord so she could charge her AirPods.
“Wait,” she asks, “are you guys mad at me?”
