SEVENTEEN’s The8 finds love in romantic video for ‘Side By Side’
SEVENTEEN member The8 has released a romantic video his new solo single, ‘Side By Side’.
The singer – real name Xu Minghao – tells the tale of unrequited love on the romantic, guitar-driven track, which was released in both Korean and Chinese. In the accompanying video, he tries to woo his love interest with food, flowers and more. The clip also features cameos from fellow SEVENTEEN members DK, Dino and Jun.
‘Side By Side’ is The8’s third solo single, following last year’s ‘Falling Down’ and ‘Dreams Come True’ from 2019. This is also the first time the singer has released a track in two languages at the same time.
‘Side By Side’ is the latest in a string of solo releases from SEVENTEEN‘s members this year. Hoshi, the group’s main dancer, dropped his long-awaited debut mixtape ‘Spider’ on April 2. Meanwhile, fellow Chinese member Jun released two singles, ‘Crow’ and ‘Silent Boarding Gate’, in February.
Earlier this month, the group also made their first-ever appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, performing the single ‘Hit’ from their 2019 album ‘An Ode’. In an exclusive behind-the-scenes video, SEVENTEEN also shared the key message behind their music.
“I think the key message that can be found in all our songs is comfort,” said Dino. He also shared that the group’s music also brings him personal comfort.
SEVENTEEN made their US TV debut in January this year on The Late Late Show With James Corden with a performance of ‘HOME;RUN’. They later also went on to perform ‘Left & Right’ on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
