Sabrina Carpenter fans shocked to discover her aunt is the voice of Bart Simpson

Sabrina Carpenter fans were shocked this week to discover that her aunt is the voice of Bart Simpson.

Nancy Cartwright, who voices Bart in The Simpsons as well as Ralph Wiggum, Todd Flanders, Nelson Muntz and Maggie Simpson, revealed the news on social media this week while answering fan questions.

The Emmy winning actor, 66, has also voiced Chuckie on Rugrats, Rufus in Kim Possible, Mindy in Animaniacs and many more famous animated characters.

In response to a fan question asking if Carpenter was her niece, Cartwright replied: “Yeah! Absolutely!”

She added: “Isn’t that amazing? Maybe you’ve known me for a little while, doing this little 10-year-old boy for 35 some years – and some of you guys for way less than that – and find out that I’m related to this superstar. She’s pretty amazing.”

On the TikTok caption accompanying the video, Cartwright wrote: “The rumours are true! Sabrina Carpenter is my niece!”

Fans reacted to the video in the comment section, sharing their surprise at the news. “But why does Sabrina being related to Bart Simpson makes so much sense??? it really is a family attitude,” one fan wrote.

“Can we hear Bart sing espresso?! PLEASEEEEE,” asked another.

Before starring in Girl Meets World on Disney, Carpenter followed in her aunt’s footsteps, voicing characters in Phineas and Ferb before launching her musical career.

The pop singer took to social media yesterday (July 9) to share a video that includes the tracklist for her upcoming record. The album is due to arrive on August 23 via Island Records and is now available for pre-order and pre-saving.

The album comes after several stints supporting Taylor Swift on the ‘Eras’ tour, and the release of two massive singles: ‘Espresso’ and ‘Please Please Please’.
