Veteran producer RJD2 has dropped The Fun Ones, his first studio album since 2016’s Dame Fortune. The 14-track LP is largely instrumental but also includes vocals from Homeboy Sandman, Aceyalone, STS, Khari Mateen and Jordan Brown.
“The Fun Ones is a collection tunes that were made with the intention making songs that got me excited and happy about music,” RJD2 tells implurnt. “I threw all focus on proving my diversity as a producer out the window and worked from a ‘gut feeling’ place.”
He adds, “There’s rappers, singers, horns, strings, etc. and the digital/CD version is assembled like a mixtape with audio snippets tying the songs together. Hope you enjoy!”
