Rakim announces first album in 15 years, ft. DMX, Prodigy, Nipsey Hussle, Snoop Dogg & more
New York rap pioneer Rakim has announced his first new album in 15 years, G.O.D.’s Network (Reb7rth), which follows 2009’s The Seventh Seal. It comes out on July 26, and pre-orders are up now.
Rakim produced the entire album himself, marking the first time he’s ever done that, and it’s loaded with guests, including Snoop Dogg, Method Man, 38 Spesh, Skyzoo, Kurupt, Masta Killa, B.G., Hus Kingpin, Canibus, Joell Ortiz, and more, plus posthumous verses from DMX, Prodigy, Nipsey Hussle, and Fred the Godson.
The first single is opening track “Be Ill,” which features Kurupt and Masta Killa and stays true to the East Coast boom bap sound that Rakim and his old pal Eric B helped invent. It comes with a video and you can check that out below.
