Originally released for the 2012-13 season, the Nike Kobe 8 sneakers were Kobe Bryant‘s signature shoes during his final years with the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA. To give the kicks modern upgrades, the sports apparel company is re-releasing the Kobe 8 Protro sneakers in Lakers’ colors on Friday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT.

Priced at $180, the Nike Kobe 8 Protro “purple and gold” sneakers are made with strong lines and double top eyelets for additional support. In fact, the shoes are designed to mold to your feet for better responsiveness when playing basketball, or just for casual use.

The sneakers are designed for cushioning and traction for an active lifestyle, while the Kobes have Nike React foam inserts dropped in the soles for extra bounce, cushioning, and absorption.

Meanwhile, the Nike Kobe 8 Protro sneakers feature Bryant’s “sword in sheath” logo at the back of the heels, tongues, and on the bottom of each sole. A pair Nike swoosh logos are placed on the outer mesh uppers and the inner collars, while Kobe Bryant’s signature is featured at the outer heels.

The design and silhouette are modern and in-step with early 2010s basketball style. As far as colorways, these sneakers come in white, university gold, and court purple.

Available on Friday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT, the Kobe 8 Protro “purple and gold” basketball sneakers come in men’s and women’s sizes for $180. The sneakers also come in sizes for big kids and little kids with prices starting at $90 per pair at nike.com.

In addition, the shoes come in black, wolf grey, college navy, and university red colorways — as part of Nike’s “Team Bank” collection.
