Nicki Minaj Pushes Back ‘Pink Friday 2’ Release to Her Birthday
The artist made the announcement during a Instagram live on Tuesday
After revealing the title for her upcoming LP in June, Nicki Minaj has once again pushed back the arrival of Pink Friday 2.
The rapper took to Instagram live on Tuesday to announce that her new record will now drop on Dec. 8, her 41st birthday.
“The new album date for this incredible body of work, that I am so proud of is on a special day to me and to the Barbz — it will come out on my birthday,” said Minaj. “Pink Friday 2 I am so happy to announce will be out on my birthday.”
Minaj originally scheduled the record to arrive on Oct. 20, then later pushed the album to Nov. 17. Although she didn’t state the reason for the second delay, Minaj insisted on Twitter it was due to “some really exciting news that I’ll share with you guys @ a later time.”
Pink Friday 2 will follow Minaj’s 2018 album, Queen, and her monumental 2010 debut, Pink Friday.Minaj also reissued her 2009 mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty in 2021 and has teased a tour set to start in early 2024.
Minaj also presided as the MC for this year’s 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, and also took the stage for the debut live performance of her latest single, “Last Time I Saw You,” set to appear on Pink Friday 2. The rapper returned for a second performance, this time accompanied by a crew of other hip-hop greats. To close out the show, Minaj joined Lil Wayne, LL Cool J, Doug E. Fresh, Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels, and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five in a tribute performance celebrating the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.
