New Rayman game is in the works but don’t expect it to be released anytime soon
As part of the 30th anniversary celebrations for Rayman, creators Ubisoft confirmed a new game is in the works – but don’t expect it to launch any time soon.
The original Rayman was released in 1995 and became one of the best-selling PlayStation games. A number of platformer sequels followed alongside a variety of different spin-offs, including the beloved Raving Rabbids series. The last mainline Rayman game was 2013’s Rayman Legends though.
However, creators Ubisoft have confirmed they’re currently working on the “future” of the franchise via a “special message” broadcast as part of fan event ‘Rayman Alive’.
“Rayman was born at Ubisoft Montpellier in 1995 and for the past 30 years he has gone on many adventures thanks to studios around the world. Starting now and across our community channels, we’re taking a moment to celebrate this incredible history by looking back,” said brand producer Loic Gounon, promising behind-the-scenes looks at development, interviews with game creators and concept art. ”Rayman couldn’t have become such a legend without all of you, the fans. You’ve helped to keep his legacy going.”
Gounon went on to confirm that a “very talented team” at Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan are currently “working together on the future of Rayman”. However, fans shouldn’t expect a formal announcement “too soon”.
“Rest assured, Rayman is in good hands”

“This is so cool to see and very heartwarming. Love that they assured us that they’re working on something,” wrote one fan. “They actually got Ubisoft in some fashion to join in on something like this? That’s honestly pretty surprising given their reputation as of lately. I’ll definitely have to give this a watch soon. Also hearing Gounon say Rayman is in good hands put a huge smile on my face. Nice to hear Rayman won’t be in purgatory for much longer,” added another.
“Huge Rayman fan! Glad to see that Rayman is still important to them, new game yes please! Happy Anniversary limbless hero,” said a third.
The Rayman news follows a report that a fifth Crash Bandicoot game, which would have included a crossover with fellow noughties icon Spyro The Dragon, was cancelled last year.
In other news, d4vd has confirmed the release of the first official Fortnite anthem – ‘Locked & Loaded’. The track from the diehard gaming fan will launch later today.
