Mario Kart 64 is the latest soundtrack to join Nintendo’s dedicated streaming service – but fans just want the music from Mario Kart World.

Last year, Nintendo launched its Music app, letting gamers listen to soundtracks from a number of its iconic games. There were 23 albums available via Nintendo Music at launch, including the original Super Mario Bros., The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and Super Mario Odyssey. As well as listening to the songs, users can also play extended versions of tracks and build their own custom playlists to listen to offline.

Nintendo has been adding one new soundtrack a week with the most recent addition being Mario Kart 64, meaning Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can now listen to the music of four Kart games – 64, 7, 8 and Super Mario Kart.

However fans are getting frustrated that the Mario Kart World soundtrack still isn’t available.

“You added the wrong Mario Kart game,” said one fan. “They’ll share anything but the Mario Kart World OST,” wrote another. “I love this app and I use it all the time but please just hurry the fuck up and add more music it’s too slow,” added another.

Mario Kart World’s soundtrack features more than 200 different songs, including remixed and reworked classics.

“We want players to stay engaged with this vast world for a long time without getting bored and hope the soundtrack will support those efforts,” explained Nintendo’s Atsuko Ashai in a recent developer Q+A. “We poured a lot of effort into each and every song. Our goal was to create distinctive music that’s fun just to listen to while driving around.”

Following the successful launch of their dedicated Music service, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa has revealed the company are now considering the “feasibility” of orchestral tours to celebrate the music in the real world.

He went on to say the app was designed to “help Nintendo reach more people and expand the population that is exposed to it.”
