A1 Bentley, who stars in Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, is being sued by an 18-year old artist and her father for $1.8 million for allegedly failing to meet his end of a production contract. 

The 18-year old artist C’Marie, née Carley Masten, entered into a production deal with Bentley in 2018 when the two began working together on developing her career. The deal stated that Bentley would craft songs and develop the young artist’s talent. In order to help produce an album, music videos as well as radio promotion for the young star, Mr. Masten gave A1 $376,400– which he says were his “life savings” in the lawsuit. However, nothing happened.

In the million-dollar lawsuit filed against A1 by the teenage artist and her father, Jeffrey Masten, they accuse the reality TV star of breaching his contract, fraud, intentional misrepresentation, negligent misrepresentation, and conversation.  

In the suit, Mr. Masten explains he believed Bentley to be, “a music producer with a reputation as a credible professional with hit songs to his name and was seen as an established star in the entertainment industry. Defendant Bentley’s credits include songs with renowned artists of the likes of , , Ty Dolla Sign, , and .”

They claim that Bentley then “quickly transitioned from star producer to one who began to lose his luster and become so desperate to make money he no longer cares about doing quality work, just stealing money from inexperienced people hoping to get into the music industry (as the Plaintiffs both were when they met Defendant Bentley.)”

Equally, they claim that A1 promised her an appearance on Love & Hip-Hop which never happened, as well as an opening spot on ‘s tour– which apparently went to his wife, Lyrica Anderson, instead. 

The father-daughter duo are now seeking the $376,400 they initially paid to A1 to help develop C’Marie, and an additional $1.5 million in punitive damages.
