Lewis Capaldi spotted recording with Noah Kahan after mental health hiatus
Fans have spotted Lewis Capaldi back in the recording studio with Noah Kahan after his mental health hiatus.
Almost a year ago, Capaldi announced he was taking a break from music following his Glastonbury 2023 performance, which saw him struggle with his voice several times. In January this year, he gave an update on his health, saying “it’s been going great!”
Now, it seems the Scottish artist might have some new music up his sleeve, thanks to an Instagram post from breakout folk star Noah Kahan. In a set of pictures Kahan posted yesterday (May 17), Capaldi was tagged in the third image, with a pair of headphones on and clearly in a recording studio.
Kahan captioned his post: “There ain’t nothing to report, but I hope you’re bored and heading north”
Since Capaldi’s hiatus, he announced there would be a deluxe version of his album ‘Broken By Desire to be Heavenly Sent’ on New Year’s Day, treating fans to five extra songs from his second studio album.
NME reviewed the record when it was originally released in May 2023, giving it three stars: “Buried at the end of the record is its finest moment, one that does away with the gooey, romance platitudes and instead indulges in something inwards-looking and potent. On ‘How I’m Feeling Now’, he ironically toasts his so-called “beautiful life”, one that “seems to leave me so unsatisfied” and has left him wanting: “Thought I’d be happier somehow”.

“Moments like this – candid, coarse – are where Capaldi shows growth and where he should go next. You just wish he’d realised this sooner.”
Meanwhile, Noah Kahan recently performed his breakout hit single ‘Stick Season’ with Olivia Rodrigo at her show in New York.
Rodrigo talked about collaborating with Kahan most recently in January, when speaking to Variety at the Governors Awards in Hollywood. The musician was asked who she would like to duet with, to which she replied: putting it “out there in the universe… I love Noah Kahan. I think he’s so great and he’s very inspiring… One of these days.”
