Kimmel Admits He ‘Almost Crossed the Picket Line’ Over Trump’s Weight

It’s been nearly five months since Jimmy Kimmel hosted his late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live! owing to the writers’ strike. In the meantime, Kimmel co-hosted the all-star podcast Strike Force Five alongside Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, John Oliver, and Seth Meyers to raise funds for their out-of-work writers, and recently suffered a bout of Covid, causing the cancellation of the pod’s live performance in his native Las Vegas.

“In case you’ve forgotten, my name is Jimmy,” he announced during his opening monologue. “We’ve been off the air for five months. We’ve been gone so long that The Bachelor is now a grandfather.”

“This one went on for 148 days,” he continued. “I want to take a moment to thank our crew, and all the union crews, for supporting our writers,” he added. “Thanks largely to them, this is a big win for the little guy… We hope that the actors, the auto workers, and the health care workers all get the contracts they deserve, too. I missed being here. I really did.”

And with that, Kimmel went in on one of his favorite targets: former president Donald Trump, who is currently facing 91 felony charges thanks to several indictments against him in New York, Georgia, Washington, D.C., and Florida. The allegations range from falsifying business records and mishandling classified documents to conspiring to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential election win.

Then, on a far less serious note, there’s the matter of Trump’s weight. The former president and reality show host self-reported his weight as 215 pounds when he was booked in Georgia, defying logic.

“Every time something would happen in the news, I would get texts asking me if I was bummed that I didn’t have a show that night. And mostly I was fine, but the one that really got me was when they booked Trump in Georgia and he self-reported his weight as 215 pounds. I almost crossed the picket line for that,” joked Kimmel.

“If I was the judge in the case he has going on in New York right now, I’d start the try and say, ‘Listen, we’re going to get to the fraud thing, but first, hop on the scale, big fella,’” he added. “If he’s 215 pounds, that means he’s 30 pounds lighter than his last physical. When he was president, he was 245 pounds, which means either he’s lying, or the Colonel is now frying his chicken in Ozempic.”
