The Kendrick Lamar / Drake beef seemingly ended after Drake responded to Kendrick’s “Not Like Us” with the weak, defensive “The Heart Part 6” and was widely declared the loser of the feud, but Kendrick has been getting more and more juice out of his Drake diss tracks, especially “Not Like Us.” The song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Kendrick went on to perform it five times in a row at his Juneteenth concert “Ken & Friends = The Pop Out,” which also included the live debuts of “Euphoria” and “6:16 in LA,” a Black Hippy reunion (Kendrick, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul), and more. Now, Kendrick has released a video for “Not Like Us,” and the video is loaded with more Drake disses and references to their beef.

Kendrick co-directed the video with Dave Free, who Drake alleged in “The Heart Part 6” is the actual father of one of Kendrick and his fiancé Whitney Alford’s children. Whitney and their two children also appear in the video, dancing in their living room with Kendrick, presumably a response to Drake alleging in “Family Matters” that Kendrick physically abused his fiancé. Like at Kendrick’s Juneteenth concert, all of Black Hippy appear in the video, as does TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, who Drake referenced in “Family Matters,” suggesting that he lured Kendrick into a predatory deal for the decade-plus that Kendrick was signed to TDE. (Kendrick also hugs Tiffith in the video.)

Kendrick appears in a room that looks like a jail cell during the part of the song that he first mentions pedophilia allegations against Drake, and he’s also seen doing push ups in what appears to be another response to Drake’s “Push Ups.” He destroys an owl-shaped piñata, likely referencing the owl logo for Drake’s OVO label, and on screen it says “Disclaimer: No OV hoes were harmed during the making of this video.” At the end of the video, Kendrick is seen looking at a real-life owl in a cage.

The video also features cameos from “Not Like Us” producer Mustard (wearing a Toronto Blue Jays hat), Compton-born NBA player DeMar DeRozan (who played for the Toronto Raptors for nine seasons), South Central LA-raised Tommy the Clown, and others, and it features notable Compton locales like Tam’s Burgers, Compton City Hall, and the Nickerson Gardens projects. Scenes were also shot on the streets of Compton, with tons of locals dancing and singing along (their voices are overdubbed on a couple of the hooks, and raw footage is also shown at the end).

Kendrick also begins the video with a clip of new music, including a lyrical reference to his frequent collaborator Kamasi Washington. Does this mean more new music is on the way? Stay tuned to find out and watch the “Not Like Us” video below.
