John Mayer Remembers Bob Saget in Heartfelt Birthday Post: ‘I Just Miss You’

John Mayer just misses his friend Bob Saget. On Friday, on what would’ve been the late comedian‘s 68th birthday, Mayer shared a sweet post remembering Saget.

“I miss you the most when I’m exhausted and I just want to talk to my friend,” Mayer wrote, captioning a selfie of the pair. “I missed you when this magician was performing at this party I was at, and he was just okay, and I knew you’d have interjected with insanely funny one-liners, even if I couldn’t imagine what you would have said.”

“I just miss you. We all miss you,” he added. “Death may be out of our control, but remembrance is our act of defiance. And we will never forget you. Love you, Bob. Happy Birthday.”

Mayer was a close friend of the Full House actor. Last January, on the first anniversary of his death, the guitarist shared a photo of Saget along with some sweet memories in the post’s caption.

“One year ago today, we lost Bob Saget. I loved that guy. I love saying ‘I loved that guy,’” Mayer wrote at the time. “Soon after he left us, I couldn’t finish those three words without falling apart, but now I say it with all the simplicity and complexity that love itself entails.”

Mayer spoke to People in September 2022 saying the two would often have “three-hour conversations” and always “appreciated the meaning of life” together.

“He reminded me every time that, ‘Yes, John, you can afford to be a little sillier if you’ve got love in your heart,’” Mayer said. “It was this great mix of silliness, absurdity, and a deep, deep undercurrent of love.”

Bob Saget died of accidental blunt head trauma after accidentally hitting his head at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes in January 2022. An autopsy showed a fracture at the base of his skull and evidence of bleeding around the brain.
