John Goodman injured while shooting new film with Tom Cruise
A new Tom Cruise film has had its production suspended after John Goodman sustained an injury on set.
The actors had been filming a new feature film at Pinewood Studios in the UK from Birdman director Alejandro González Iñárritu when Goodman reportedly slipped while blocking a scene.
As a Warner Bros. Pictures representative told Deadline, he sustained an injury to his hip and was taken to hospital for treatment. It has been described as a “minor injury” to the 72-year-old actor, and it led to production being stopped for two days.
It is believed that Goodman, beloved for his roles in The Big Lebowski, Roseanne, Monsters Inc and Raising Arizona, has now made a full recovery and production on the film has resumed.

The project is currently untitled, having begun production late in 2024. It is Iñárritu’s first English language film since 2015’s The Revenant, and it is based on a script he worked on with his Birdman co-writers Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris, as well as Sabina Berman.
Iñárritu is also known for helming his 2000 breakthrough Amores Perros, as well as 21 Grams (2003) and Babel (2006). He is also a double winner of the Oscar for Best Actor, for Birdman and The Revenant.

In other Cruise news, footage from the highly anticipated Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning aired during the Super Bowl in February. It depicts Cruise’s Ethan Hunt performing several death-defying stunts and blink-and-you-miss-it throwbacks to moments from earlier in the franchise.
It is being billed as the final entry in the franchise and is due to hit cinemas on May 23. Cruise stars alongside with Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff and Vanessa Kirby.
