blessed fans on Thursday night/Friday morning with the release of his brand new project, Dark Lane Demo. The project mainly consists of leaks and loose tracks that have surfaced over the past few months as well as tracks like “Chicago Freestyle,” “When To Say When,” and “War.” Though many of the songs have been heard before, there’s no doubt that this will satisfy the need for new music from Drake until he decides to drop his next album.
On the opening track of , “Deep Pockets,” the rapper gives Jill Scott a shout out on the first verse rapping, “Back when Jill Scott was the apple of my afrocentric eye/ I had to find a way to get someone’s attention.” Like the rest of the world, Jill Scott was tuned into the release of the latest album from Drake and acknowledged the shout out on Instagram. Sharing a throwback photo with the Toronto rapper, she captioned the pic, “Back when Drake was the wiggle in my giggle-white Lamborghini, Maserati @champagnepapi ❤️Respect and congratulations Doc.”
While obviously congratulatory in nature, was clearly curious about her little nickname for Drizzy. “Hold up now doc what that mean?!” He wrote with a laughing emoji.
It’s officially been over 24 hours since Drake released his new project. What’s the verdict? Sound off in the comments.
