Quick Answer: Viewers can watch Poor Things online by buying it on Prime Video.

One of the best movies of the past year, Oscars frontrunner Poor Things has finally danced its way to your home theater screens, just in time for the upcoming Academy Awards. With 11 nods, including Best Picture and nominations for the film’s star, Emma Stone, fans can now stream the Yorgos Lanthimos-directed comedy online on Prime Video.

Based on the bestselling 1992 novel by writer Alasdair Gray, Poor Things takes viewers back in time to Victorian-era London. Nominated for Best Actress at the upcoming Oscars (streaming March 10 online), Stone stars as Bella Baxter, a pregnant woman who, after jumping off a bridge, gets a new start at life at the experimental — and questionable — surgical hands of Dr. Godwin Baxter (or, “God,” as Bella calls him), played by Willem Dafoe.

As Rolling Stone puts it, Stone “outdoes herself in Yorgos Lanthimos’ brilliant take on the Prometheus myth brimming with satire, female empowerment, and sex — lots of sex.” Here’s everything you should know about where to watch Poor Things online.

If you didn’t get to catch the Golden Globe-winning comedy when it premiered in theaters, you can now watch Poor Things from the comfort of your own home. The film has finally arrived on digital as an on-demand release, currently available to buy on sites like Prime Video and Vudu starting at $19.99. Poor Things is also expected to arrive on Apple TV, though it’s not yet available on the U.S. store at the time of publication. It’s unclear when the movie might arrive on other streaming services.

Poor Things: Cast, Runtime, Rating, Reviews

Along with Stone — who also co-produced the movie — and Dafoe, Poor Things also stars Mark Ruffalo as Duncan Wedderburn, as well as Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott, and Jerrod Carmichael. The film has a runtime of 2 hours, 46 minutes, and is rated R.

“[Poor Things is] a showcase for Stone, who rapidly goes from preverbal toddling to childlike wonder to restless adolescence, all while remaining a grown woman unaware of the chain reactions around her,” wrote Rolling Stone‘s David Fear in our Poor Things movie review.

“Her performance displays the balance and dexterity of a chainsaw juggler. When Bella’s sudden self-discovery via self-pleasure and the interests of a first-class cad named Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo, embracing his inner petulant asshole) sets her on a course with the outside world, she becomes both a libertine and finally, fully liberated.”
