The 2023 edition of Global Citizen Festival happened on a very rainy, windy Saturday (9/23) at Central Park’s Great Lawn. Lauryn Hill brought out Wyclef Jean and Pras for a surprise Fugees reunion during her set, playing “How Many Mics,” “Ready or Not,” “Killing Me Softly,” and “Fu-Gee-La.” See video below. Flea also appeared during her set, playing trumpet in the horn section.

While they cancelled their reunion tour in 2022, Fugees are also set to join Lauryn on her upcoming The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 25th anniversary tour, though Pras awaits sentencing after being found guilty on 10 felony counts on charges related to politican conspiracy, witness tampering, and acting as an unregistered agent of China.

Global Citizen 2023 also featured Red Hot Chili Peppers, who closed out the evening; a 50th anniversary of hip-hop celebration with Common, Busta Rhymes, Rapsody, Big Daddy Kane, and Spliff Star; Jungkook of BTS (who brought out Latto for “Seven”); Stray Kids side project 3RACHA, who filled in for the group after members were involved in a car collision; Anitta, Conan Gray, D-Nice, and Sofia Carson.
