Glen Powell is “questioning his whole life now” after cannibalism story is revealed to be urban myth
Glen Powell has responded to the viral interview he did recently, in which he told a story about an alleged cannibalism incident.
The Top Gun: Maverick star appeared on Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast last month, where he told a “crazy story” about a friend of his sister.
Powell explained how his younger sister “was friends with a girl who went on a date with a guy.” He continued: “They’re hanging out, and he’s super charming.”
Powell then claimed: “They have a great night, and she goes back to his apartment that night and he’s like, ‘Hey, can I give you a massage?’ As she got back to his apartment, she started getting weird vibes. Something feels off.”
“So, he starts massaging her shoulders,” Powell continued. “Everything just feels odd. She’s like, ‘I gotta get out of here.’ It’s a little weird, he’s like, ‘Please don’t leave.’ She leaves.”
Props to my little sister’s friend who told her this dating story…I’ve been telling this for years. I’m questioning my whole life now…
False alarm.

Powell then claimed that the girl started to experience a strange sensation the following day, which eventually was linked to the alleged massage incident. “Her skin starts itching like crazy the next day,” he explained. “She goes to the doctor, and he does a test on her skin. It turns out it’s a black market lotion that breaks down skin for human consumption.”
Powell alleged: “This man was rubbing lotion on her body to eat her.”
He continued to explain the story, claiming that the man in question was an alleged serial offender: “The doctor is like you have to give me this person’s address and you should call the police. They go to this guy’s house, and he had several bodies in the house.”
Some people took to social media to react to the story, with many claiming the story to be false. One user wrote: “I don’t understand why everyone is believing that Glen Powell cannibal story like surely if there was a cannibal serial killer going around rubbing lotion that breaks down skin on random tinder dates and then just letting them go home, we’d see it on the news???”.
Now, Powell has spoken out about the alleged incident, which many are claiming is an urban myth. The Anyone But You star addressed the story on his official X account, writing: “Props to my little sister’s friend who told her this dating story…I’ve been telling this for years. I’m questioning my whole life now… False alarm. Back rubs are back.”
Some users have responded to Powell’s post sympathising with the mix-up, with one writing: “i’m so glad “i was told this and i thought it was true so i told everyone but it’s not true and now i feel stupid” is a universal experience”.
Another wrote: “Girl, I remember when that story made its rounds in email chain letters! Loool i love you Glen Powell for bringing that moment in internet history back”.
In other news, Powell recently told the story of when Tom Cruise pranked him by pretending to lose control of a helicopter in which they were riding.
