Entertainment world reacts to Joe Biden dropping out of the US presidential race
The entertainment world has reacted to the news of Joe Biden dropping out of the US presidential race.
The current US President announced his decision today (July 21), explaining that it was “in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term.”
Biden has also offered his “full support and endorsement” for Vice President Kamala Harris to be the next Democratic presidential candidate.
Now, several figures across the entertainment industry have shared their thoughts on Biden dropping out. Barbra Streisand wrote that Biden would “go down in history as a man who accomplished significant achievements in his 4 year term,” adding: “We should be grateful for his upholding of our democracy.”
Meanwhile, director Jon Favreau said it was a “courageous and selfless decision.” “The President did what he’s done for the last four years – he listened to the American people and put the country’s interests ahead of his own,” he continued. “The exact opposite of Donald Trump.”
Other stars like Ariana Grande simply reshared Biden’s endorsement of Harris on her Instagram stories, whilst Lizzo remarked that “we are truly living in unprecedented times”. Check out some more social media reactions down below:

There have been several calls from those in the entertainment world for Biden to step down after his disastrous first presidential debate against Trump on June 27.
Stephen Colbert said Biden’s performance “took a year off my life”, saynig that Biden needed to pull out of the race.
“I think that this is actually a battle of two virtues,” Colbert added. “One of them is perseverance. Biden is famous for that. There’s another competing virtue, and that is self-sacrifice, and self-sacrifice takes a particular kind of courage. And that is a courage I believe Joe Biden is capable of.”
Author Stephen King also suggested Biden should step down after the debate, saying it was in the “interest” of the country to do so.
“Joe Biden has been a fine president, but it’s time for him—in the interests of the America he so clearly loves—to announce he will not run for re-election,” he shared in a social media post.
In other news, Donald Trump has told George Clooney to “go back to TV” over his Biden article.
