Cat Burns announces second album ‘How To Be Human’ and 2025 UK tour
Cat Burns has announced her second studio album, ‘How To Be Human’, and a UK headline tour for 2025. Find all the details below.
The London singer-songwriter is due to release the follow-up to her Mercury Prize-shortlisted 2024 debut, ‘Early Twenties’, on October 31. You can pre-order/pre-save it here.
“‘How To Be Human’ is about the last year of my life. I experienced the death of a loved one and my first relationship heartbreak at the same time, and genuinely had no idea how I would get through the situation,” Burns explained.
“Making this album was my introspective and neurodivergent way of navigating heartbreak and the loss of my Grandad, who I was extremely close to – it’s my comfort album.”
She continued: “While making it I realised how many people it could help, I know there are so many people going through similar struggles. I hope it provides them some comfort too and shows how you can pick yourself back up.”
Per a press release, ‘How To Be Human’ channels Burns’ “inner thoughts, navigating vulnerability, growth and love to deliver a powerful body of work that will resonate deeply with fans”. It was written entirely by Burns, capturing her “raw authenticity and gift for storytelling”.

Speaking to NME last year, the singer spoke about why she thought ‘Early Twenties’ had captured people’s imagination.
“I think it’s a great album and there are a wide range of song topics,” she said. “People can reminisce. It’s got a nostalgic feel to it. I think it’s alright – it’s a good album!”
Opening up about the period of her life that had inspired her to write, Burns told NME: “There are just so many firsts: first love, first heartbreak, I had so many diagnoses. I’m excited to go through the next part of my life and have not so many firsts! I can just exist a little bit.”
