Busta Rhymes arrested, charged with assault in Brooklyn
Busta Rhymes was arrested and charged with assault in the third degree after the 52-year-old rapper reportedly punched his assistant repeatedly during in argument in Brooklyn, according to NY Daily News. The article reads:
The Brooklyn-bred artist, whose real name is Trevor George Smith Jr., got into an argument with his 50-year-old assistant near the corner of Jay St. and Front St. in Downtown Brooklyn around 10:15 a.m. Jan. 10, according to police sources.
As the two men argued Rhymes, 52, repeatedly punched the man in the face numerous times, they added.
Medics took the assistant to Woodhull Hospital to be treated for swelling to the left side of his face.
TMZ also reports that the argument started over his assistant being on his phone during work hours. Busta also reportedly turned himself into the NYPD and was given a desk appearance ticket (DAT) for misdemeanor assault, attempted assault, and harassment, meaning he was handed a date to appear in court to address the charges.
