It’s a sad day for Beyoncé fans who were looking forward to her hearing her work her magic on the soundtrack for the upcoming Black Panther sequel. Earlier this week, it was reported by The Sun that that would sign her onto three new projects, including the soundtrack for Black Panther 2. However, after Variety senior film writer Matt Donnelly caught wind of these rumours, he took to Twitter to debunk them and set the record straight.

“Despite overwhelming excitement at the prospect,” Matt tweeted on Wednesday (June 10th), “sources tell me there is no big Disney film deal for , and she will not contrib to the soundtrack for #BlackPanther2.” However, he goes on to say that, “as a self-professed proud member of the Disney family, it’s likely she’ll work w them again at some point.”
Of course, it wasn’t totally out of the question for Beyoncé to be involved with the BP2 soundtrack. After all, she did take the reins on the soundtrack for the 2019 remake of The Lion King alongside her role as Nala in the film. However, if Beyoncé is not going to be at the helm of the BP2 soundtrack after all, it’s possible that Marvel Studios will bring back , who wrote original music for the soundtrack of the first film.
Marvel Studios head at the San Diego Comic-Con last summer. The film is slated for a 2022 release at D23 Expo, although little else is known about it.
