Beyoncé, Post Malone Celebrate Cowboy Couture on ‘Levii’s Jeans’
Post Malone has made himself an indispensable guest vocalist lately. The Texas musician, who released his own album Austin last year, is showing up on the two biggest LPs of the year. In May, he’ll appear on “Fortnight,” the opening track of Taylor Swift‘s The Tortured Poet’s Department, and now fans can hear him dueting with Beyoncé on “Levii’s Jeans.”
The song, off her new album Cowboy Carter, sees the Texas natives joining forces to pay tribute to Levi’s, a denim brand made famous by cowboys. “You call me pretty little thing/ And I love to turn him on,” Beyoncé croons on the sultry tune. “Boy, I’ll let you be my Levii’s jeans/ So you can hug that ass all day long/ Come here, you sexy little thing/ Snap a picture, bring it on/ Oh, you wish you were my Levii’s jeans/ Way it’s poppin’ out your phone.”
Malone responds, “Love it when you tease me in them jeans, girl, you don’t need designer/ And when that thing on hydroplane, baby girl, you the pilot.”
“Levii’s Jeans” is not Malone’s first foray into country music. In November, he made his CMA Awards performance debut alongside Morgan Wallen and Hardy. The musicians showcased a medley of Nineties country songs by Joe Diffie, including “John Deere Green” and “Pickup Man.”
In recent years, he’s also covered contemporary country songs like Brad Paisley’s “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song)” and Sturgill Simpson’s “You Can Have the Crown,” and stone-cold classics like Hank Williams’ “There’s a Tear in My Beer” and Johnny Cash’s “Cocaine Blues” (onstage with Billy Strings in 2022).
This year, Malone will take his country tribute act to the live stage next year as one of the key performers at Stagecoach festival in Indio, California. Set for April 26 through 28 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California (the site of Coachella), Stagecoach 2024 will feature Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, and Morgan Wallen as headliners, with Malone slated to play his covers set on Saturday, a day that also includes Willie Nelson, Luke Grimes, and Texas stalwarts Asleep at the Wheel.
The singer recently performed a soft, acoustic rendition of “America the Beautiful” at the Super Bowl (which was notably attended by Swift). Malone spoke to Apple Music ahead of the performance and discussed working with Swift, saying “She’s so cool, so sweet, and so kind and talented. She hit me up and said, ‘Let’s do it’ and I said, ‘Hell yeah.’ It was amazing.”
