Slam Dunk Festival Director Steps Down Amid Allegations
Slam Dunk Festival has officially announced that one of its directors will be stepping down from all festival operations following allegations that surfaced online. The festival organizers confirmed the decision in a statement released on social media this past Friday (April 24).
While the statement did not disclose specific details regarding the nature of the allegations or the identity of the individual involved, the festival emphasized its commitment to its community. “We are aware of allegations published yesterday relating to one of our directors. We take these allegations seriously and understand that they may be distressing and hard to process for our community,” the statement read.
The organization further clarified that while the director in question “strongly refutes” the claims, they have agreed to step back from their duties while the matter is addressed. “Our Slam Dunk fans, staff, and artists are, as always, our top priority. While he strongly refutes these allegations, the director in question has agreed, in consultation with the board, to step down from Slam Dunk operations while this matter is ongoing,” the festival stated.
The festival organizers maintained that they are currently unable to comment further, citing the situation as an “ongoing legal matter.” They reiterated their dedication to maintaining a “safe, respectful, and inclusive environment” for everyone involved with the event, including staff, partners, and attendees. “We promise transparency and honesty to our Slam Dunk community and will provide updates when it is appropriate to do so,” the statement concluded.
The allegations first appeared on social media platforms, including Instagram, where a woman shared claims accompanied by screenshots of an alleged conversation. The individual who posted the allegations later noted that she had been advised by police to remove the content, stating she was complying with those instructions.
Slam Dunk Festival is currently preparing for its 20th-anniversary celebrations, scheduled to take place at Hatfield Park in Hertfordshire on May 23 and Temple Newsam in Leeds on May 24. The event has already confirmed a significant lineup, including headliners Good Charlotte, as well as performances from artists such as Sublime, Knocked Loose, Boston Manor, and State Champs.
As of now, no further information has been released, and no artists have officially withdrawn from the festival lineup in response to the news.
