Over 30 years after the last instalment, The Naked Gun franchise has been revived with Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson.

Directed by Akiva Schaffer, the 2025 action comedy serves as a legacy sequel to 1994’s Naked Gun 33+1⁄3: The Final Insult. In this reboot, the son of Lt. Frank Drebin, played by Neeson, must follow in his father’s footsteps to prevent the closure of Police Squad.

Other cast members in the film include Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, Liza Koshy and Cody Rhodes.

This is the fourth film in The Naked Gun franchise and the first without Leslie Nielsen, who died aged 84 in November 2010.

Who composed the soundtrack for The Naked Gun?

The film’s score is by Lorne Balfe, who has a stack of credits to his name. Some of his notable works include Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Black Widow, The Lego Batman Movie, along with video games like 2009’s Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Speaking about the film’s score, Balfe said: “When I first sat down with the director [Akiva Schaffer] to talk about the score for The Naked Gun, he told me one thing right away: the music had to feel honest.

“That set the tone for everything that followed. No matter how absurd the scenes got, the score needed to treat them seriously — especially the action. We weren’t playing for laughs; the music had to sell the drama, because that’s what makes the comedy land.

What other songs appear in the film?

The soundtrack includes a remixed version of the original The Naked Gun theme, along with tracks performed by Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson in the film, titled ‘My Sweet Beth’ and ‘Sassafras Chicken in D’ respectively.

“Ira Newborn’s original theme is iconic, and I really wanted to honour that noir-inspired, brassy sound while bringing a fresh energy for today’s audience,” Balfe said. “That contrast — serious music underscoring ridiculous situations — is what makes this world so fun to play in.”
