Everything announced in the “disappointing” Nintendo Switch 2 Direct
Nintendo hosted a Direct presentation yesterday (July 31) focusing on the new games coming to the Switch and Switch 2 from third-party developers in the coming months.
However a number of fans have called the reveals “disappointing” with expected titles like Hollow Knight: Silksong and the Switch version of Elden Ring missing from the livestream.
The big news from the Nintendo Switch Direct is that Star Wars: Outlaws will be available to all Switch 2 players from September 4. The open-world game released last year and features an original story set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
“Risk it all as scoundrel Kay Vess, seeking freedom and the means to start a new life. Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted.”

Despite all those game releases for your diary, some Nintendo fans weren’t impressed by the Direct. “It’s so strange to me that the Switch 2 reveal Direct had a better selection of third party games than this one completely dedicated to them,” wrote one fan on Reddit. “Ports, ports and more ports. Just give us a list and save the money on the Direct,” added another.
It’s been a mixed week for Switch 2 fans. Nintendo surprise-released the SNES classic Mario Paint onto the Nintendo Switch Online Library with the soundtrack also added to Nintendo Music while Mario Kart World got a bumper update. Some fans loved the decision to change the frequency of “lap-type courses” in ‘VS’ mode after an earlier change inspired waves of backlash but other fans are annoyed that nerfing the computer opponents has made the game too easy.
