Nicole Kidman Toasts to all the ‘Babygirls,’ Chugs a Glass of Milk at NBR Awards

The actress accepted the award for best actress for her performance in the Halina Reijn-directed film, Babygirl

Just two days after the Golden Globes, the stars once again stepped out into the spotlight for the the National Board of Review Awards. Although not televised, the event gave those who didn’t take home a trophy on Sunday an opportunity to deliver acceptance speeches.

While the night saw stars like Daniel Craig, who took home best actor for Queer, and Kieran Culkin, for his supporting role in A Real Pain, take the stage, it was Nicole Kidman who offered one of the evening’s most memorable moments.

In an ode to the deliciously erotic scene in Babygirl, Kidman accepted the NBR Award for best actress for her starring performance and marked the occasion by chugging a glass of milk. “To all of the babygirls in the room,” said Kidman, raising the glass toward the crowd. After finishing off her drink, the actress declared, “Good girl!”

The film has been praised as one of the year’s top features, which was written, directed, and produced by Halina Reijn. Babygirl and Kidman’s performance have inspired numerous thought pieces and viral reactions across social media. While Kidman’s role earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture — Drama, Fernanda Torres ultimately took the prize for Walter Salles’ I’m Still Here.

The NBR Awards also saw Wicked gain its share of accolades after taking only one award at the Golden Globes (the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement). The blockbuster musical won best film, while Jon M. Chu was chosen for best director, and Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were recognized by a special award for their creative collaboration.
