Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” turned into an 8-bit video game
The saga of Kendrick Lamar‘s “Not Like Us” continues. After the song’s music video came out on July 4, it’s now the inspiration for an 8-bit, browser-based video game in which you control an 8-bit Kendrick Lamar who has to hit as many 8-bit owls as he can before time runs out. The game is soundtracked by a chiptune version of Mustard’s “Not Like Us” beat, and every time you hit an owl, the screen shows a cartoony “WOP!” (Just in case you forgot or didn’t watch the video, the game references a scene in the video where Kendrick hits an owl piñata, and an owl is also the logo for Drake’s OVO label.) The game was created by game designer and rapper Richie Branson, who also worked on Fornite and did music for Adult Swim. You can play now at notlikeusgame.com and see the full credits below.
The “Not Like Us” video is filled with more Drake disses and references to their beef, and you can watch it and read about it here. Kendrick gave “Not Like Us” its live debut (and also performed it five times in a row) at his Juneteenth concert ‘The Pop Out: Ken & Friends,’ which also saw the live debuts of “Euprhia” and “6:16 in LA.” See a full timeline of the Kendrick/Drake beef for more.
