It’s a Minions world, and we’re just living in it — and now they’ve even taking over the world of K-Pop. In celebration of the release of Despicable Me 4, Illumination is teaming up with global pop icons, BTS to come together for quite possibly their cutest collab to date (sorry, BT21). Funko is releasing an exclusive, collectible seven-pack figurine set, and all the BTS members have all gotten the Minions treatment.
This limited-edition set features Pop! versions of Minions dressed as RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook. And while they’re not sporting those iconic overalls, the BTS Minions come decked out in outfits inspired by the group’s 2021 hit single “Permission to Dance”.
The collectible set retails for $99, and is inspired by a new character from the upcoming Despicable Me 4 film, Poppy Prescott, who identifies as a member of BTS ARMY. Fans were quick to spot that she is seen in one of the trailers practicing a dance on a DDR-like machine with BTS’ “Butter” poster in the background.
The Funko Pop! figures will be available for pre-order at Entertainment Earth starting June 21, and is part of a larger capsule collection between Illumination, Universal and BTS’ label Big Hit, which includes more limited-edition apparel and accessories priced from $30-$60. This capsule will also be available on the Weverse U.S. shop until July 1, and will be coming soon to Nordstrom and Urban Outfitters stores and online.
These pint-sized pop figures come off the heels of member Jin’s return from completing a mandatory, 18-month military service on June 11. While their contract renewal is still uncertain, we’re sure to keep seeing more BTS collabs like this one (and there’s certainly no slowing the reign of Minions down) until the group is rumored to return to full-time activities as early as 2025.
But you don’t have to wait until the collection drops online to get access to this adorable merch — ARMY and Minions fans alike can also shop the collection at upcoming retail pop-ups in Los Angeles, Seoul and Tokyo. You can check out the pop-up locations and dates to shop the BTS x Despicable Me 4 merch collection below, and pre-order the Minion Funko Pop! figures online here.
