Peso Pluma fractured ankle on stage at GovBall, powered through his set anyway
Governors Ball has been increasing its Latin music presence lately, and this year’s lineup had Farruko and Rauw Alejandro on day one, and Peso Pluma on day three. It would’ve been a triumphant set for the narcocorrido star regardless, but it became one even more so after Peso Pluma fractured his ankle on stage and powered through. He quickly ran off stage to get his foot wrapped, and he had to limp his way through the rest of the set, but that didn’t stop him from dancing during every song. At one point, a chair was brought out for him so he could rest his leg, but he said “fuck this chair!,” threw it, and continued on dancing.
Throughout his hour-long set, he brought out frequent collaborator/labelmate Jasiel Nuñez and had an even bigger surprise in store when he brought out Rich The Kid for their recent collaborative single “Gimme A Second” and his own 2018 hit “Plug Walk.” Most of his set found him backed by his very talented, fully-acoustic band and a group of dancers, but he also did a reggaeton portion that included his guest appearances on Karol G’s “QLONA,” Yng Lvcas’ “La Bebe,” and Ryan Castro’s “Quema” that got the whole NYC crowd moving. And speaking of guest appearances, it was no surprise that his Eslabon Armado collaboration “Ella Baila Sola” had one of the biggest reactions and singalongs of his whole set.
